MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Awareness Month takes place every March to raise awareness about MS. Throughout the month of March, organizations and advocacy groups will host educational events and activities to bring attention to this condition.
MS Awareness Month can benefit people living with MS, along with their families and communities. Anyone can show their support by participating in various events, such as fundraisers for MS research.
About MS
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) occurs when the immune system attacks nerve fibers and myelin sheathing (a fatty substance which insulates healthy nerve fibers) in the brain and spinal cord. The resulting damage disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, memory changes, pain, fatigue, and more.
Everyone’s experience with MS is different, and symptoms may be temporary or long lasting.
Walk MS resumes in 2022
The annual in-person Walk MS Cincinnati is scheduled for April 23rd at Sawyer Point. Hosted by the MS Society, this event celebrates the resiliency of the nearly 1 million people across the country living with MS, raises funds for research, and rallies for a world free of MS.
